Games and violance

Todays games have often been criticized for being to violent and thus being unsuitable for children and/or Teenagers. However is it the games fault?
The question is of course should a game be violent? Now some games that are supposed to represent certain aspects of life such as violence are often criticized for making killing seem to nice and simple other games which represent such things more accurately are accused off being to violent thus disqualifying automatically. Now many say games and entertainment should not be violent yet most of our entertainment and world is most violent we just continue to fight war and consider weapons to be our most lucrative industry.

The Bacteria

Now, we have, the human race have a great history playing with the fire. Now we are playing with several fires at the same time right now, one is the fire of Viruses, which are visible in the form of Biological weapons. Of course then there are chemical weapons as well as Nuclear weapons, then there are some non-military technologies which we do not understand but do use, for example particle accelerators which we use to find the 'god element'. Now there are also certain elements in society which we could define as fires. Of course we also know that there were some pretty nasty things which we do not understand in the past of this nice friendly planet. Now the Antarctic is often used to check back on the past because it has been around for so long and the ice has only added such a small amount every year. Now today we have apparently found something great in fact its so great that we could not stop to do anything but to revive that what we found. This something might be something good, neutral or bad however we revived it without actually really know what 'it' is. We know that 'it' is a bacteria however as to its purpose or powers however it is something that was in the ice and we did revive it.
All we know about those bacterias is that we have no understanding as to what they we know that when we attempted to find progenitors that we found few matches and that those were remote ones at that. Leading us up to one thing that we do not know what they will do.

Thailand still reeling form Coup

If, one recalls in the last September the Thai government was overthrown by the military leadership which then promised to hold new elections as soon as possible. The coup itself was a action taken by the military to topple a supposedly corrupt government as the military stated was at odds with the population.
However the interesting thing is that almost a year later the government is still in the hands of the military and now the government really does seem to be at odds with the population especially since the number of protests have increased over the last months. The military government answers to those allegations by issuing statements such as "Sansern said there were 3,000-5,000 protesters, and said that most were "misinformed" about the political situation, and that some were paid to take part." (Al Jazeera)
This most recent Demonstration that now enjoys so much attention left around 270 Demonstrators injured from fighting with the police. This Demonstration was led by a number of Senior officials of the now dissolved Thai Rak Thai party which was also the party of the Prime Minister before he was replaced by the Military government.

Peacekeeping

The question is what is the concept of Peacekeeping?
Well really it evolves around military soldiers taking over the position of the protector. This is usually done for the 'poor' and 'defenseless' of course the flaw is as simple as the protocol by which they are operating. Where do you draw that line? The main question is do you draw the line with the common criminal? OR are these 'peace-keepers' allowed to only intervene in other military operations? Can they protect the harmless neighbor being attacked by not so harmless one. Of course the concept of the peace-keeper which is usually being sent into harms way in a trouble zone in which peaceful side by side living seems impossible. Those peace-keepers are being sent into impossible situations in which friend and foe can not be distinguished.
Of course that will also show the worst in the people sent there, who often eventually return after a mission not completed, a mission not supported and people not understanding. However some of the peace-keepers eventually show signs psychological break down this can be seen in many ways.
Some of the men involved in those missions apparently resort to sad acts which are then usually committed by desperate people.
How and why are hard to understand since of course most people have not encountered such stressful situations such as the peace-keeping missions on which we send our peace-keepers. Now if a soldier fires back on instinct and is then pursued for following in stressful situation training then it is not the soldier that is at fault but logically it would be the person who send the soldier there and the person who trained the soldier. However we seem to tend to accuse the soldier of anything he does even if based on instinct instead of considering that the military doctrine has to be reconsidered. Not to mention the reconsideration of the entire concept of peace-keeping especially in the manner in which it is done at this point. Forcing soldiers not just into impossible situations but also confronting them with impossible situations in which we force those soldiers to watch massacres without being permitted to interfere or press charges or do anything but be forced to only watch and do nothing. Especially that to men and women which have been trained to act.

The Underdog?!

It is curious how interested we are with Underdogs, we consider suicide stupid and not worth mentioning however, if someone is willing to die for ideals for something 'special' then this suicide or be it 'Last Stand' can easily become a legend.
Take for example the movie 300 it does portrait a Last Stand fight which has interesting stories however we like to make it seem more heroic then it was as like to do with many battles during the movie many odd creatures appear of which we know many would not have appeared but it would have been a fight between man and man only not with mis-formed creatures that seem to resemble something that came back from hell and which can take many hits without falling.
However we do seem to like that concept of the underdog winning or at least putting up a severe fight this concept in fact seems so attractive that we create new stories if they are based in Fantasy, History, Present or Future we love the concept of the 'Righteous' winning and seem to always have of course the Righteous is determined by the society in which we live at that time. This Underdog might simply remind us of the 'fact' that if you are fighting for the 'Good' side then we can win or at least severely harm our enemy it also seems to remind us of us being able to be able what ever we want or of our own power really it does not matter why but it is certain that we like to believe certain things of our 'Side'. That 'our' own Side is the 'Good' and 'Righteous' side.

Less and yet warmer

The radiation emitted by the sun has been declining ever since we measured, there have been occasional spikes however the overall radiation has decreased.
The Radiation emitting from the sun is the energy source for earth the more is emitted the warmer it would get on earth however earth currently defies that logic by increasing the surface temperature while the radiation is decreasing.

Now usually planets do not develop their own habits or do what they want in general there situations that create what we now experience for example unbearably warm summer.
The increase of surface temperature in this case is likely to be linked to certain other factors specifically to earth. This would imply certain conditions on earth cause this rise, the main probable cause at this point of course is the usual suspect is Global Warming. AKA: The beautiful holes in the Ozone layer which are created by...the life-forms and certain technologies on this planet.

The sun was so far the main other suspect for the rise in temperature on the earth surface. Now that that has been ruled out the scientists have to find a new reason, of course for some economical reasons it would be nicer to blame the sun since a great number of industries are causing the increase of the damaging gases which are creating the hole. So the search ones more commences.

Boeing upgrades and challenges Airbus once more

Boeing is now preparing to begin the bidding for the new 787 airliner which is now entering its final stages of development. The 787 will be entering service during the next year only one year after the A380 enters service, which was intended to enter service last year but due to technical difficulties the launch of the A380 was postponed. This hurt Airbuses reputation and finances this further reduces the interest in the A380. The 787 comes to an opportune time and is likely to hurt the market share of the A380 and some Airlines which so far only threatened to cancel their orders now have a way out with a new and mid-seized airliner which can fly just as far.

THE BUG AH!!!

Now, first of all AH is the online abbreviation for Auction House.
The Bug Auction house is online, it is an Auction house which allows people who find bugs in software to sell their findings to the highest bidder through this Auction House and this could create an entirely new form off software production and Quality assurance. Since this would mean any company can check this auction house and buy up information relating to bugs that peak their interest. This then is intended to allow for a higher standard in the realm of software quality and security.

The Virtue Police

Certain officers of the Virtue Police in Saudi Arabia have been arrested because of the death of a suspect. The duties of the Virtue Police include the protection of the flock to stray. In other words they are responsible for the religious well being of the people. If someone is at 'risk' of straying this police is responsible that a) he/she does not do so and b) that he/she does not affect others with their wayward thinking. The wayward thinking is identified by the way one cloths if it is in the manner the suspect talks or any other 'give-aways' or hints.
The most interesting thing is that the US has always been standing close and very protective over its harmless and defenseless ally Saudi Arabia which would never dare to touch an innocent man on the basis of an unprovable suspicion. Which is based on an even less provable idea.
No neither the US nor Saudi Arabian Governments would ever do such things but there are those other very dangerous countries that have neither money nor weapons those have to be kept under control so that they can never threaten the defenseless that own the most sophisticated weapons.

Russia and Austria

A Russian space agency official has been arrested in Austria because he is being suspected of espionage. Russia has expressed how strongly they feel regarding the arrest and insist that the official be released since they claim that he was under the protection of diplomatic immunity. Since he was attending a UN meeting and stated that because of that the official is to be released. The Russian official was arrested together with an Austrian Military officer who is suspected of having handed on the information to the Russian official.
This is one more event creating even more tension between Europe and Russia.

Sony VS. The Church of England

The Church of England is considering legal actions against the game publishing arm of Sony. Why? Well it is not because the games which Sony is publishing are 'wasting' today's youth. Its isn't necessarily because of the amount of violence or because of some indiscretion against Christ or God him/itself. The reason for the consideration of these legal actions is simply from this world and driven by the concept of ownership.
Now what has Sony done that the Church of England suddenly wants to sue? Its simple really apparently they used a certain Cathedral in a game with out requesting permission for doing so from the Church. Sony reacted by stating that the game does not reflect in reality and this is believable considering that the game is based in a post-apocalyptic world. The Manchester Cathedral apparently is well represented in the game, but the Church seems to wish to either be payed or to see the Cathedral disappear from the game. Admitting all previous stunts and attempts to get money from others this is a very new and different approach for the Church until now forgiveness was enough but now lawsuits? Well it is well known that those can bring in a nice chunk of money at once and no-one ever doubted the churches ability to produce zealots. Sometimes it is interesting how a Religious institution sometimes appears so much less 'other worldly'. Suddenly they are not above pettiness or money.

Hmm, yeah well

Now computer safety is a hot topic, especially since there those nice ads which imply or support certain believes concerning Mac and Windows PCs. Before I continue both Mac and Windows systems are PCs, Personal Computer is what PC stands which encompasses all computer systems that are such.
Now interestingly enough it was actually a Virus that attacked Macs that was the first Virus out there and that was because at that time in the market of the personal PCs the Mac OS was leading. A lead which Mac has lost for a long time, that is not because Windows is inherently better but because Windows had a better ad Campaign not to mention aimed at the right user group in the right manner. Mac has simply become more of a tool for a very specific purpose with which there is nothing wrong. But the Windows machine and most Linux machines can easily be upgraded while it is admittedly harder to find drivers that work well for some version of Linux. Also the Windows machine as the Linux machine are both more versatile for example you can custom build your own computer legally and install your old OS from the old machine on there and simply stop using the old set-up while a Mac has to be bought with the computer something that naturally makes it less attractive for the people that build computer systems. Then there are other past time activities for which Windows is most suitable such as gaming and the likes, now Macs are most useful for Graphic and Sound Design an area in which I might add Windows and Linux machines can not compete. But that means that the Mac is the most useful to people that simply want to do either of those things. In the other areas it is just as good as Windows or Linux, while Linux offers more flexibility to the advanced user but often is confusing to the beginner. Windows is fairly simple, offers versatility which allows it to be used for internet and other work related issues as good as the other two and also allows the user to play games which by now are a very important part of the industry. Macs simply are not better as a general statement but rather cater to the needs of a special group which needs something like that. But for other purposes that involve work All systems are equal now, a corporation is under those condition most likely to be the OS that comes it the cheapest and if the corporate IT people know that the best choice is an OS that allows upgrades to come from them because it will be cheaper then they only have Linux and Windows as choice and most people know Windows because it is on most computers sold why? Because they managed to become popular enough. Thus Windows is the logical choice. Now if Mac was the cheaper choice you can bet that Companies would start using Mac but as long as they have to buy entire systems with the OS it makes little or no sense to use Macs.
To the most contested issue of hacking/viruses and spam, Unix based systems (Linux and Mac) are known to be safer then Dos based (Windows), but it is also known that there is no such thing as a totally safe system Macs and Linux machines can be hacked but you have to remember that hackers and spammers go after the most common OS since that is what brings them the most information and Victims which either results in fun or money or even both. If say mac would have the greatest market share tomorrow within a month the internet would be swarming with Spam and Viruses for Mac and hackers would suddenly start taking an interest in Macs.
But since Macs are a small group they have remained fairly safe for the time being.
Thus saying Macs are safer because they are is not perse the entire answer but rather they are safer because they represent a minority and that means that Windows is actually protecting Macs by being the main target.

Blizzard let the cat out...

Now, before I begin I want to point out that the web went into a frenzy ever since Blizzard announced for the first time that they would make another game in the near future. Fans of the old-timers and long veterans Starcraft and Diablo of which both are still played and popular games hoped for either Starcraft 2 or Diablo 3 now Starcraft was the one with no successor and also the older one of the two games. Diablo 2 had been released in 2000 and was followed up with an expansion pack while Starcraft dates to 1998 Diablo 2 of course was already a successor to Diablo which had been released in 1996. Yet, Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction (the expansion pack to Diablo 2) was the last release that was Warcraft unrelated which means for essentially 7 years there was not an announced non-Warcraft. Now it looks as if Blizzard has already done some good work on kicking Starcraft 2 off but knowing Blizzard we can anticipate that the release will take another 2-3 years. The game is being announced with the tag line "Hell, its about time", this line has several
references one of them being the long Warcraft period through which Blizzard has just gone and hopefully it is a time that now has ended. Also it plays a role in the Cinematic video which by the way does justice once more to what Blizzard provides its fans with eye-candy and a great deal of in-game fun. Beyond that Blizzard does have the reputation to take always longer then they say they will for a game and of course for usually producing nearly or completely bug-free games as well as working closely with the players together. And of course also for great art work.

Education...

Now, this is basically the continuation of a response I gave to an article.
My point was how many of todays students actually want/need University/College education. I' am not saying need education for a job, what I mean is education that is logically needed to perform a job. Now we don't need the garbage man or cab driver with anything beyond a High School degree. It is not as if you wanted to argue with your garbage man, or with your cab driver.
We can admit that most people do not need so many degrees nor do we need for some professions degrees.
We now face an enormous inflation of educational degrees, an inflation that is caused by people thinking that they need degrees when they often are simply not necessary.
Now if say the people would do what they wanted and head straight there they would easily be able to do so in many cases without needing to go through University or College, it is not as if the education provided there does not offer something useful but in many cases it is also very harmful to the mind and of course to the wallet which often does not have the strength to support that strain forcing students to go into a specific profession into a profession they may only chose for the money and its compatibility with their degree. That is where problems then start people that then find that they are not happy in the chosen profession do not change for many reasons and this sadness will then be carried into their family lives this (if they have children) is likely to cause certain pain to children and of course that is entirely unnecessary for the simple reason that sometimes people want to do something specific like driving a boat, now more accurate would be saying captaining it. That does require certain specialized training but it does not require a degree of a university in some abstruse area the same counts for pilots or other specialized professions that require a BA or MA by job description but which are really unnecessary because that person wants to do something quite specific and if that person would then be trained in that specific direction which in this case would be shipping, ship design maybe, etc. things which a captain should know. Which make a captain a interdisciplinary but also insure that his/her knowledge is quite specific to the duties a captain has. The problem today is the over valuing of the university degree which quite honestly is not that great and in most cases not needed for many professions.

Those curious little things...

Now, many often say that I tend to be a bit judgmental or at least use nationalistic ideals very often to provoke. The reason I' am saying this is to warn you before you read on in this post since this could be considered a rant once more inspired by...what else could it be? Talking...
Now there are many little things that make Canada a curious country especially so since Canadians for some reason only compare themselves with the US. Not other countries the reason for that is that the US is the closest country to Canada and the loudest country. Of course that can be understood, now Canada is country which is besides another country that manages to use even more resources wastefully of course if that is your measuring stick then you are most of the time in a good light and if only in your own eyes that is enough since when other countries then tell you that you should change your ways you simply point south and have so pointed at the country that wastes even more then the your country does. Of course that is a very regional way of thinking a way which I may add is somewhat...well outdated. Since we have to consider that you can travel around the world within less then a day...presuming you have the money to do so of course. Now there seem to be some very interesting differences between European countries these days and North American countries. Now for example a little things would be the fact that the wire antenna on the car is still legal in North America while it has become illegal in most of Europe. Now of course the next thing would be the efficient engines which are completely computer controlled and for some reason the engines build in most cars in North America are not quite as efficient as the cars in Europe. Of course you can't perse blame the people exclusively in North America since Europeans did not do it any better until it got bad and until Europe was out of resources, land and air. Now of course you could suggest that other countries could learn from the mistakes made in Europe and that that way it would be possible to with some problems before they occur; problems that are known. Of course there is the limitations that government and certain other forces have imposed upon the advancement of energy efficiency in North America as well as some odd believes concerning certain ways of power production such as wind-power seems to be considered primitive by some people while it really one one of the most efficient ways off producing electrical power. Of course there is also the thinking or lack of information that stands in the way of more efficient means of producing energy and also conserving energy. Such as good heat insulation and many other things that are not used to the full extend in North America. Yet, of course there is then the contrast of certain other areas in which North America is one of the leading areas of expertise. It is not that North Americans are dumb or unable but rather that North Americans do not always see or if they see often do not realize that resources are actually limited and that eventually they will have to conserve of course North Americans also do not look at Europe for lessons concerning this specific issue since the Europeans have had to deal with these problems and had rivers which were entirely dead thanks to the industry waste that was being pumped into it. From that point on the Europeans had to learn and had to adjust but North Americans do not seem to wish nor think that they need advice on those issues, of course it is not a bad thing to turn to a someone with more experience.

The question...

Now I have been asked a question, in a conversation recently, I was asked...well actually all the guys in the guys at the table were asked "Why, we (guys) do not understand a simple but gentle rejection but rather need something overly direct that would be to brutal in some peoples eyes?"
Now why do we not understand those 'soft' 'friendly' rejections do not work is simple really they might be 'gentle' but while that is the case they do often cause a problem such as that the 'soft' rejection often causes the issue of the guy not sure of what is going in the girls mind. Now of course I would like to add that that most often holds true for women in general. Now back to the main issue when a woman tells a guy the 'soft' or 'gentle' rejection that means for the guy that he does not quite now what she means after having been bombarded with the media telling him that a girl means this or that by saying that or this. Now this combined with the fact that a guy most often has no clue or only a very limited understanding of what a girl wants, never mind means. Leads to the true confusion at which point the guy knows barely anything that would help him decode any of those secrets or understand what a 'soft' rejection means. Thus when he is being rejected in such a confusing manner he can only be confused. Thus I would suggest to avoid those confusing problems that women should simply use clear and not confusing language. Allowing the poor confused man to understand at least some of what woman are trying to tell them. Now of course you have to understand that this article is based on my own observations and not on research done in a clear and controlled environment. Thus it means that I can only write my own personal opinion and not anything else.

Food, OH! Glorious Food!

Yes, I stole that quote from the movie 'Demolition Man'.
Now the Grey whale population has been recovering over the last decades and seemed to be doing quite well. But during this winter the Grey Whales arriving in their breeding ground in Mexico seem to be malnourished. The scientist seem to be unable to explain the reason completely. What is known is that warm weather means less oxygen in the water and less oxygen means less food in the water. This means that the Grey whales would have a harder time to find food in sufficient amounts to still their hunger.
The current whale population is greater then ever recorded before and that means that more whales have to feed on less food.
This can be seen as a warning sign scientists warn since this could be simply the precursor to the entire Pacific food-chain and variety of species. How these changes will come and what the effect of those changes would be can only be speculated at this point yet it is certain that the change is likely to be drastic and is even more likely not to be confined to the Pacific alone.

Interesting turn of events

Apple now had to admit that their Macbooks and Macbook Pros have seen some battery problems for which they offer a software patch and a free of charge battery exchange.
It would almost seem that since apple began to sell great numbers Ipods and Computer systems that the quality has declined to some degree since the production had to be increased to meet the new demand. These new sales records have bolstered Apple's stock and financial reserves, yet at the same time Apple suddenly seems to be haunted by legal problems and technical problems. Ipods suddenly seem less sturdy then their predecessors did and the computers seem to show the occasional issue as well.

International Cooperation in space...a dream?

The Russian space agency offered NASA to work together on the goal of creating a station on the moon. But while the Russians show a great interest and willingness in cooperation NASA does not. In fact NASA has denied the offer and does not seem to be interested in contemplating this issue any further. This is another event in a series of events which once more strain the relations between the US and Russia. The Anti-missile system was one of the major issue causing conflicts which by the Russian leadership was condemned as an expansionist strategy which would only insure MAD. Russia also threatened to stop supporting the agreement between Russia and the EU concerning the build down of conventional weaponry. The EU and NATO responded to that threat with great concern and strongly emphasized the gravity of the situation.
The US leadership responded only by saying that the anti-missile system was intended to protect allied countries against the Iranian threat. Further that these missiles would not pose any threat the security of Russia since they would be deployed in small number to only cover against the Iranian missiles and not against the hundreds of Russian Missiles which in great number could simply penetrate the Anti-missile shield.
Scientists turned to Star Trek for answers concerning certain issues of space travel since the health risk of traveling in space is tremendous the only solution is to insure that most or all of the radiation can not enter the spacecraft. For this the Deflector which serves in Star Trek that and some other purposes offered itself, and now scientists now look at ways in which the Deflector could be implemented.
At the same time scientists suddenly fear the miss-use and even in-humane use of the Robots that are being designed now and want to establish rights, laws and other protective measures for the Robots and humans involved before the Technology surpasses the legal framework once more.

The Wall is back...

Yes, the American forces have decided some weeks ago that it would be a good solution to build a wall straight across Baghdad. This wall then is intended to separate the waring parties in Baghdad and thus solve the issue of the conflict in the Iraqi Capital. This of course has spawned a series of violent outbreaks in Baghdad and several very strong protests. The US leadership however decided to continue on its course and hold steady on its chosen course.
The US Congress decided that the US forces should withdraw within a certain time frame shortly after all these events transpired. The Iraqi government protested that the US should not withdraw just yet since they represent the military presence in the Middle East. The Iranian government while all this occurs shows willingness to talk but also maintains a hard-line policy and which unsettles its neighbors and insures that the US leadership continue to consider Iran more as a threat then a potential Allie.
While a bit east North Korea admits how direly it needs the supplies given by the aid organizations, and China suddenly wants to have close ties with Taiwan after so many decades of tension. Japan while this is happening explains that it has no responsibility to compensate the 'pleasure women' which had wanted compensation from the Japanese government for the forced 'pleasure' they had to supply to the Japanese troops during World War 2. The reason why Japan does not have to pay is that the Chinese government accepted that no further claims could be made when the Japanese-Chinese diplomatic relations returned to a strained peace in 1976.
Finally in all these issues the war and or at least the wish to gain remains a very important issue and remains at the center stage. Or in some places it is even more the issue of not losing to much, or more then already has been lost. The war in Iraq or rather the US involvment has to end because simply the US economy can not sustain this war much longer especially now when it begins to cave-in.

Surreal Reality and Taxes

The time of the Tax Return is upon us once more, yet this time I actually had to do them myself...while attempting to understand what the Canadian Government wanted to know from me and how I could make them understand what I had made or not made over the last year. Well, I noticed a most interesting fact which shocked me a bit, this fact was that the organization of the Tax forms seemed to defy all logic and that it seemed to be designed to do nothing but to confuse the victim. This victim then would have to try to mule through the enormous amount of cross referencing that would seem more then unnecessary, further while trying to make sense of this most evil piece of confusion and illogic I further noticed that for some inexplicable reason all these lines in my specific case could be reduced to circa asking basic questions, thus questions that could more easily be answered and would not cause problems: How much have you made over the passed year? How much have you spend for education and similar? etc.
Yet, the sheet seems to be less designed for ease of use then for complicating the use, thus making it more difficult for the victim to claim any money for themselves and if they become to confused in the marsh of cross-reference then the victim might even have to pay extra since that is 'fair'. What does the victim get from paying those taxes? Well interestingly enough if a several corporations would take over the areas for which we pay the government then we suddenly would be likely to see improvement, now the reason for that would less be that the corporation would care about the victim or that the corporation simply is better then the government. No, the answer is far more simple, the corporation would try to keep the customer by not confusing them unnecessarily by simple stating how much is due, this would also mean that you would only pay on the services that the individual actually wishes to receive. For example as heartless as it may seem a married couple with double income but without children is illogically paying for services that they would never require such as schools. If this couple had the choice they could continue to do so but would not be forced to do so, now in the capitalistic system this would actually be something to be desired since logically if they have more money available they are also more likely to invest more and spend more.
Of course there is another interesting feature concerning taxes, something history professors and students like to point out with equal vigor which are the facts that many of the taxes today are a) not necessary Canada does have a very thick surplus today b) was promised to be a temporary obligation to make the war effort possible, yes the World War 2 war effort c) that historically people if percieve the governing body to be in such a place rightly that the government then is always right and that the person that would deny the government would automatically be thus in the wrong. If that is the case the people can not deny the government the payment of taxes.
Ultimately it is curious that taxes have become something so very accepted that the government has gained more and more power over the last hundred years, and not just in Canada but in many countries.
This is a form of tribute that we pay to the government for what? Protection? Good Roads? Payed Schooling? The main part of these taxes of course is absorbed by the monstrous bureaucracy which such a government creates, more then 40% of the Canadian population actually is employed by government. Now some of those people provide services for which people are paying anyhow such as the postal service.
Yet, there are things that could be significantly simplified if attempted to do so first of all of course taxes that were necessary during World War 2 for the war effort are more then unnecessary today and the government is responsible to cancel such taxes aka income tax. Now of course it has to be noted that the government of today does provide in some areas more services then it did before but it is not neccessary for any government to make money that is not the mandate of ANY government that is the mandate of a Corporation, which at least is honest on that aspect, but any government is only responsible to request money that is necessary to maintain services required by the public, and to expand services if necessary but not to make money beyond the needed.

Fast eating?

Obesity seems to have become the problem for many people these days, yet what is the cause for that? Often it is said that eating fast is unhealthy, now why could that be? Mostly that is because there are other causes to someone eating fast such as unhappiness and that combines with eating fast and most likely over eating can cause obesity. An interesting comparison that was brought forward in an article in the Koelner Stadtanzeiger, was as follows "In comparison with the French and the Americans already tells the tale, In the Fine-foods paradise France are only half the people overweight then in the country of the Fast-food." This comparison refers to the proportional percentage in the countries and not the actual numbers since in France the population is smaller as well. Making the difference in numbers far greater.
What could help? Well for once in a while relaxing and taking stress in to a lesser extend allowing the mind and the body to recover. This would be a healthy and possible approach that can show lasting effects.

Iran's defiance

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated that Iran is willing to enter negotiations with the UN and western countries if they also suspend their nuclear fuel production. Until now the US and UN have challenged Iran to suspend the enrichment of nuclear fuel, now with the deadline approaching Iran stated that it will suspend its enrichment if the western countries asking the same from Iran do the same. The white House responded with a statement delivered by White House spokesman Tony Snow who said: "Do you believe that's a serious offer?"
Clarifying that the US is not willing to suspend its own enrichment process to aid the negotiations. The US is also pressing for a more aggressive strategy if Iran does not suspend its enrichment before the deadline. Many experts have warned before military intervention because it could cause another great war in a region in which any war can't be afforded.

Tension in Israel

Excavations near the third holiest side in of the Islam in Jerusalem have caused a great deal of tension in Israel. Those tensions also became visible in Muslim countries which protested against the excavation, Turkey now wants to send a inspection team which then is to find if or if not the excavation means harm to the holy side. Israels government has maintained that the excavations do not pose any danger for the holy side and that there is no reason for tension. Further Israel's government has stated that it is happy to host the inspection team since they had nothing to hide.
The Israeli Antiquity Authority has also installed web-cams which supply a 24-Hour feed to show that there is no harm done to the Muslim structure.

Terflop...

The teraflop chip is there, this chip is not yet ready for commercial use but it does have 80 cores. The problem now is how to use those, since the PS3 already had problems with dealing with 7 different cores at the same time. Now programming 80 parallel cores is a task that is far greater. And might require significant changes in how our computer systems operate. Yet, this technology is still under development.

US military in Japan

The US military faced loud and noisy demonstrations, which luckily remained peaceful, when the F-22 (Raptor) was flown to a US base to counter the North Korean thread. The F-22 was not previously employed outside the US and this was the first time that the US send this new and most expensive of their air combat toys outside US borders. The F-22 also is a Stealth fighter which means that it is harder to detected in comparison to conventional fighters, this can either increase the time until fired upon or even prevent enemy fire and/or detection.
More recently a bomb has exploded near a US base in Japan which may be reason for concern since the Japanese population seems to want that the US troops begin their long promised leaving of the country.

Iran

The Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared at a rally Iran did not intend to stop its nuclear program. Further that it also did not intend to violate international conventions, concerning nuclear weapons. A semi-official news agency named Mehr has also reported that the Red Guard had a form of flying 'suicide drones' at their disposal that would be able to fly at US Military ships ram them. Triggering there by an explosion, this technology sounds like a somewhat less advanced version of the Cruise Missile. Which could also be nuclear tipped since Iran does have nuclear fuel available yet considering statements until now make that unlikely. Thus making conventional explosives the most likely armament, yet it is by now in Iran's capability to produce nuclear tips for these missiles.
Further the US has continued to accuse Iran of supporting Iraqi resistance fighters with technology as well as resources. Iran until now has also denied doing so, further the bombs have grown sufficiently sophisticated that they are able to penetrate Abraham Tanks. Which represents the backbone of the US tanks.

Sleepy?

If one does not sleep enough you feel tired and as your brain just does not want to work properly. Missing out enough sleep can that lead to a from a waking sleep were everything in your environment seems very surreal. That is called insomnia it is a state which today probably more common then is good and a new study suggests that missing sleep is not just problematic for the body because it reduces the time alloted for regeneration but also because the production of new Brain cells seems to be reduced. Now this would manifest in the study after 72 hours of sleep deprivation and there is no study right now dealing with the effects of little sleep loss such as often is experienced by students and the working population. Yet, it does once more show that sleep is very important for our body and mind.

Doomsday...?

Many have always speculated how and if Doomsday will occur, now a vault is being build to resist all currently foreseen climatic changes. What is this bank going to hold? This bank is a seed bank for crop seeds those crop seeds are then to be used in case of catastrophes when the seed banks in other countries are destroyed or if presumably all other seed banks are destroyed. It will be able to hold approximately three million seed samples and further the Norwegian government is paying $5 (US)million to build the complex. The vault itself will be located very close to the north pole in Spitzbergen.
This vault then can insure the food production even after devastating events such as the Tsunami in the Philippines.

Alzheimer the dread of age...?

Alzheimer has always been linked to age, high age as well as genetic predisposition. A new study concerning itself with social isolation has brought up a very interesting new lead. Which suggests that Alzheimer is more likely to develop if the subject is socially isolated, that the degradation of the neural pathways is likely to be increased by the reduced use that is accompanied by social isolation. Further studies are required to confirm what is now being suspected which is that genes might not even play as great a role as has been believed until now and that social interaction might already greatly decrease the risk of Alzheimer.

Ever wanted to spent 2.9 trillion US $?

President Bush's administration holds the track record for having lost the most money any American administration has ever lost. That is most impressive and saddening considering that the Cold war actually is part of that list of administrations. Now the new Budget that Bush has presented does not change this problem but only seems to increase expenditures, also he claims that this budget would allow a surplus by 2012, thus making another administration responsible of handling this problem. The new budget plans on spending 2.9 trillion US Dollars such this sum includes new and increased (or improved as some would call it) military expenditures. The Congress has already criticized Bush's approach to the finance problem and is likely to want to change a great deal on this new budget.
Some even call this new Budget 'The war budget' if that is justified or not is to be decided.

TB YAY

The terabyte has now finally taken over from the Gigabyte or rather is beginning to do so. With the help of a new writing technology the first internal hard drive has now reached the 1 TB mark. A mark that until now was only reached/broken by some very expensive external HDs 1 terabyte consists of 1000 Gigabytes. Computer systems on the average currently move in the realm of 0.3-0.6 TB of total available HD space the TB internal HD is likely to reduce the Dollar to GB ratio further and now introduce the Dollar to TB ratio which is likely to increase the space on HDs available to computer users during the next few years rapidly.

Nuclear power issue...

The nuclear reactor in Sweden once more showed safety problems for which the reactor then was shut down. This leads to further question the actual safety of nuclear reactors in use. Also it further reduces the trust in this power source. Now Germany will reduce the production of coal or even stop it entirely, it leads to ask the question what power source is to be used since no power source seems to be safe. At this point it does not leave any options but to use a form of clean sun power.
Now that this winter has been so very unusual, lead people to accept that humans and their technology have a enormous impact onto the environment which leads to some changes in the climate.

Cisco Systems is one of the bigger companies owning a great deal of the internet, further several companies produce VOIP telephones under the trademark of the iPhone. Apple's response by stating that this lawsuit was 'silly' and 'tenuous at best'. Previous legal battles involving Apple focused around the legal implication of the iTunes Music store. Both companies have agreed on extending their talks concerning this issue.

The US and how the administration deals with problems...

The US Government is attempting to 'solve' the problems of the Middle East with the help of military force. This reaction appears very familiar since the British government tried to solve the problem in Mesopotamia (Iraq) with the same tools. The only thing they found that was more problems, the tension they created prevailed until today. Now trying to solve a problem that was created by ignorance and violence now the question is can such a problem be solved by even more of such problems.
The US military leaders seem to deny this problem as well.

Coal? No thanks!

Germany has subsidized coal mining for many years now to protect jobs that otherwise would be lost. This program to protect those jobs is now to be down-scaled until it then eventually is to disappear, which is expected to take place in 2018. This step is taken for two reasons for one it will decrease the production of fossil fuels and make it easier for Germany to comply with the EU standard norms. Also this subsidiary system put a great strain on Germany's budget in the form of 2.5bn Euro it can be argued however that maintaining a inefficient production is cheaper then to force thousands out of jobs which would mean that a number of those who lost their jobs will be likely to life off welfare. Also they are less likely to spend money since the amount available is smaller.
If this decision is a good one or not time will show, however this plan is to be checked in 2012, and only if the commission then decides that this plan is good for Germany, will the plan be concluded.

How to punish a naughty Dictator...

The US has now finally found the punishment that they want to impose upon North Korea, this punishment is supposed to punish the North Korea for the Nuclear weapons test last year. This punishment is a ban on certain products, such as fine wines, Ipods and fast cars. This punishment could easily destabilize the North Korean government while it is supposed to warn North Korea of further weapons tests without consulting the other countries or respecting their wishes. This also is intended to make North Korea aware of the fact that even though that North Korea wants to be independent that they are in fact a country that is very dependent on imports. Thus leaving a great deal of power over it in the hands of the exporting countries. The effects of this might be that it positions the North Korean government in a corner from which they feel that only a more aggressive approach would help. Many countries think that the only way to be accepted in international politics is being seen as a strong country, a country that can win a war against other countries. That the only thing that other countries respect is strength and power.

Ray-Gun?

The ray-gun is essentially nothing but a upgraded microwave emitter that can be adjusted. This weapon is currently defined as a 'Non-Lethal' Weapon and is to be used in crowd control. This of course is curious since the Microwave emitter could have many side-effect, which are not known at this point but nonetheless this weapon is now facing fielding. The problem is that if this emitter is upgraded a bit it easily can become an offensive and very lethal weapon.
Here is some more background information...
1 360-degree operation for maximum effect
Antenna, linked to transmitter unit, can be mounted on vehicle
Automatic target tracking
2 Antenna sealed against dust and can withstand bullet fire
3 Invisible beam of millimeter-wave energy can travel over 500m
4 Heat energy up to 54C (130F) penetrates less than 0.5mm of skin
Manufacturers say this avoids injury, although long-term effects are not known

Safer? Never!

The internet is not overly safe, this is more true then ever today now that Hackers have built up a share information further the law still has not caught up with this problem and this allows for a the hackers to rampage. Also today's hackers usually focus on the internet because that allows for more money then it does attacking a single system. Those thieves do not have to fear anyone but each other and trust does not go along way among them, but that in the worst case scenario means a loss of several thousand a month. But since the hackers still make more then enough money that does not matter to them, of course that annoys them to lose that kind of money. Yet, since the governments can not do anything, such as suing or imprisoning hackers.
The problem is a) tracing is not easy almost impossible and b) even if hackers are located that does not guarantee that the hacker has to face legal actions since the problem is the lack of evidence most often accompanied with these crimes.

How can normal home-user protect themselves against those attacks?
Well first the user should keep the computer updated, using a current browser is the first step into that direction, those would currently be Firefox 2.0 or Internet Explorer7 while I would suggest using Firefox, IE7 is a good browser too.
Further using good Anti-Spyware programs and keep them updated, of these one can use more then one I for one use all of the ones listed here (they are also free of charge), Spybot Search&Destroy, Windows Defender (I only started using this recently but must say it has worked reliably until now), Adaware Personal edition.
Now after these programs comes the Anti-Virus which has a wide variety I offer three different ones here that have good names but there are many more, Avast Home edition(this one is free), Norton 2007, NOD32, the latter two both charge money.
Next would be a software firewall, (the integrated one for XP is not good), Zonealarm, Comodo and Norton Firewall(This one costs money).
All of these are good software programs, and further all of the different kinds should be used, Anti-Spyware, Anti-Virus, Firewall and New Browser all of these should also be kept up to date. Since otherwise they are not effective, if you use a high speed connection you should scan at least every 5-7 days with slower connections it is still suggested but not as important since the slower systems are more likely to be left alone.

One Interesting bit of information many of the new hackers come from Romania, and they are accepted to be the best or among the best in the world.

Problems everywhere...

Microsoft is defending the Digital rights Management system that is integrated with Vista, while the Russians protest against the expansion of the Rocket shield to Poland and the Czech Republic. Because that shield would clearly threaten Russia's safety or so Russian military leaders state. The EU is adjusting it laws for online sales, to insure a fairer trade online in Europe, some of the smaller companies state that this could endanger their income and threaten their existence. In China the tiger is at the brink of extinction due to the enormous recent growth in China, living space for the tiger has become a rarity. Also a rock band in Australia has banned its fans from bringing national flags because they fear that those could cause racial clashes and violence might ensue, instead it caused a long row over the right to carry a flag in Australia. While in the German NRW (a part of Germany) a storm caused tremendous damage it had been the worst storm in 40 years in Germany. The damage is enormous in museums, stores, pants and homes. Now the female RAF Terrorist Brigitte Mohnhaupt might be released at the age of 57, the RAF is a left extreme group which connected itself with the Soviet Union bey calling themselves RAF or Red Army Faction. At the South coast of Britain a Tanker is sinking which is likely to cause enormous environmental damage.

The questions one has to ask once reading all those events (only a small selection is shown here) is it hopeless? Did the world always face so many problems at the same time? Are we causing many of these problems? If so what can we do?

News?

Sometimes the problem that occurs to me is that even though that I write on current events which ones actually matter enough? Airbus has fixed the wiring bug, the problem is that this seems fairly mundane compared with the wars going on in Iraq, Afghanistan and Africa. Which ones of those are more important? Are there any that can be called more important? Most of the more recent news seem to focus around the little world of the westerners who in their comfort are suffering great crises such as the E-ON (German) trying to take over the Spanish energy giant Endesa. Political problems...and of course the lack of political activism in the younger generations.
While else where people are starving or dying of the lack of medical care. Most westerners life in a fairly safe world and still are afraid...of what? The greatest part of the resources which the western world has available goes to a certain few, 10% of the worlds population owns 90% of the worlds riches. Instead of drawing the line at one point we accept consumerism and capitalism in their full beauty and gather more and more things that we do not need. The house with more then 4 bedrooms for a small family or only a couple, the car park while you can only use one vehicle at a time. Why would anyone need more then one TV or more then one PC? Is there a need to own all forms of entertainment?
To protect our markets we rather destroy products instead of sending the excess to people in need. Westerners have everything and more while others have less or nothing is that the world we wanted to built?
The focus is centered around things that might affect the western style of life; Lack of oil? No problem we can invade! If we destroy the world for everyone in the process is something that only appears on the sidelines.
Is there a point at which we stop and ask ourselves :"Is this what I want and need? Or is that something I can really life without." Or will we just continue as we have until now without regard for anything else but our comfort.

Hillary Clinton is now running for US president and declares that she is "...in to win!" This would make her the first first Lady to seek the Presidents office. Further she blames the Bush Administration for the loss of position in international position of the US and declares that she plans on recovering this loss.
This is a very aggressive move on Hillary's side, and until now there has not been a elected female US President, this could indicate a shift in the political world of the US and also of the US policies.

Open Source and Europe

A report funded by the European Commission states that switching to open source software would be cheaper then buying software packages such as Windows or Mac OS. Since open source due to its flexibility allows anyone to add to the software available it allows for a high rate of growth. The main problem would be that since the only open source OS is Linux that personal would have to be trained on this new and different OS which could mean slightly higher costs in the short term. This is the first time that a government agency has positioned itself on the side of the open source software in such a manner. This also is the first time that a government made the suggestion of using open source to the private sector.
The flexibility underlying open source especially gains importance with Vista on the market and the only other alternative being Mac OS and Linux.

Violence?

Now many have heard of the criticism against violent material, Germany has had laws in place for many years now which enabled the government to outlaw movies and/or games that were considered to contain an excessive amount of violence or deemed to be propaganda. This system has only shown limited success this is explained with the rest of the EU not having joined into this program while the borders are open. Thus students could travel into Britain and obtain a game or movie outlawed in Germany and bring this game with them when coming back without the fear or risk of being detected. Now as many as 27 other countries want to help to create a program that can involve more of the EU or even the EU entirely. This is then allows a more effective protection of the youth. If those measures will life up to the hopes will be seen but it certainly does put pressure on the companies to keep their games less violent and the same counts for the Movie makers.

Consumerism...and my answer to it...

I' am one of those who argue against consumerism, and often am misunderstand due to that. Many think that by saying 'No' to consumerism I say 'No' to buying anything, now that is incorrect. Consumerism is not buying what you need but rather buying continuesly and mainly things you do not need. For example if you have a cellphone you can use that for many, many years instead most people buy a new one very often beyond that buying a cellphone is most often not even necessary. What I' am saying or intend to say is that you only need so much we do not need, I do not object to the occasional luxury I' am to much of an realist to expect us to go back to rocks and caves. Yet I do hope that it is possible for humans to life in a more coexisting manner which allows which does not everything to be destroyed or to have to get out of our or else be destroyed.
Other cultures have managed to do so, thus meaning that we can coexist if we only accept limits of our environment. Now this does take effort but is not impossible.

SCHOOL?! No!

German education is known for many things, but not friendly teachers or students enjoying them-self. Most German students are already haunted by 'School-Fear' (Schulangst) which if the fear is great enough leads to extensive absenteeism as well as sicknesses caused by the mind to allow the student to miss school.
Germany now wants to emplace new laws, which according to School psychologists are causing more problems to students at an even younger age thus intensifying the effects of as well as 'School-Fear' itself. The students are already beginning to feel the pressure at grade three when they have to begin to achieve good grades to get a good 'suggestion' from the elementary school for the type off Secondary school to which the student would 'fit' the 'best'.
Now those 'suggestions' are in reality far more if they Suggest a Gymnasium that is where the student is likely to go.
There are Three fundamental types of Secondary schools in Germany.
The highest is the Gymnasium which if completed at Grade 13 allows the student to go to University.
The second Highest is the 'Realschule' this school focuses on lower education goals in theoretical areas and teachers more practical information. Students can if they complete the elementary school very successful continue on a Gymnasium but they are likely to gave a hard time since the Gymnasium has a far harder educational pace. (Most trades want at least the normal 'Realschule' degree.)
The last and lowest one is the 'Hauptschule' from which the student only learns rudimentary information and can if completed there most likely only work in very practical professions.
Thus forcing the elementary school student to deal with this pressure which could dictate the rest of his life and at the very least will influence it. Leads to enormous fear of school and teachers, this can be seen in North America too but not nearly to the same extend. Since the students face a gradual pressure increase.
If this fear is then intensified with the help of more pressure even earlier in the educational carrier of the student (Grade 1 or 2) or the amount of pressure increased it could cause serious problems for Germany's students and for Germany's future generations.

US and Iraq...

Candolane Rice has sided with Bush once more, Bush the President of the US has now purposed to sent another 21500 troops into Iraq. This proposal drew instantly fire from both sides of the Congress, the Democrats as well as the Republicans have opposed this.
While the President of the US is proposing to sent more troops into Iraq another controversy began in Iraq, the raiding of a Building which the Iranian government states to have been the Iranian consulate was raided by US troops. In the process several computers, files and four staff members were taken by the US troops into custody. The Iranian government appears to have sent a letter to the Iraqi Foreign Minister in which they demand the immediate release of the prisoners.
This development also seems to be the first sign of an even more direct and aggressive strategy. Which clearly does not take international relations into considerations, or only to a limited extend.

100$?

The 100$ laptop is now finally entering its final development phase, the Development of this Laptop is leading the advance of an ambitious project which is aimed at making computer Technology and the Internet available to anyone anywhere. For people in Western nations which...can afford it can also take part in the buy 2 get 1 project with which the project employees want to support the ones that can not afford to spend a hundred dollars on a Laptop to educate their children. This means that someone who can afford it buys one Laptop but pays for two, the second Laptop is then made available to someone who otherwise would not be able to provide this educational tool for their child.
100$ Laptop program is a program that aims at providing education on computers and the internet to everyone. Thus allowing the children that otherwise would not have a future one. The only hope for many would be any education to be able to work in certain environments. This program is one of the more ambitious programs against poverty and for self-help.

Did it help?

Saddam Hussein was hanged on the 30th of December '06, the question that has plagued many concerns not simply that he was executed but also that it appears to have worsened the conditions in Iraq.
Saddam Hussein's death became predictable during his trial, during which the judges were exchanged if to sympathetic. Further a more important question was not addressed in fact it was mostly ignored. What does it mean for us as human beings if we start killing people to atone for deaths? Can one death really atone for other deaths or is that simply revenge which only hurts any peace?
The argument for Hussein's death sentence was that he committed crimes against humanity and for that he would have to die. It is doubtful that the families of the dead really feel any better now that Saddam is dead further such a death made him for certain circles a martyr. Also is it not a crime against humanity to kill someone, and as such wouldn't the hanging of Saddam be a crime against humanity.
It is undeniable that he did bad things and had to be punished but would life imprisonment not be better? Then again there is of course the group that argues that life imprisonment is even less humane then killing someone as punishment since that person then would literally have to rod away in cell instead of being allowed to depart this person would have to wait for many many years to be released....by death.
But can killing another being be justified not considering the possible crime that could have been committed, can we truly justify killing anyone?
The going theory was that two things would happen in Iraq after the hanging of Hussein, one was that the people would stop rebelling and would become 'good law-abiding subject' or the other was that they would see Hussein as martyr and for that would become very unsettled and begin a more extensive campaign against the 'western aggressor'. Until now neither has really taken place, the situation in Iraq seems to have remained in a state of civil war which did not escalade any further. But then again that war seem to be far from over.

YES, it kills germs too!!!

Now Gene-technology is more and more affecting our daily lives, Genetically manipulated food and animals. The glowing pig, the cloned sheep, the crop that does not fail easily and produces more then any other crop etc. Now until this usually ended with humans we have, until now at least. Humans always were considered taboo because...well lets face it we think that we are pretty special. Recently a new genetic development has reached its animal test phase...(other animals are more losable then human animals)...this new genetic technology is new skin. This new skin then would be transplanted onto burn victims which need new skin. Now the difference between this new skin and 'normal' human skin is that it kills bacterias more efficiently thus making infections less likely. Now this, if it works as promised, would make the recovery from heavy burn wounds a great deal easier for patient and staff.
But is it really that good of an idea to start with playing with human DNA?

Back...GO BACK I SAID!!!

Yes, it is once more the time after holidays when the teenagers and children have to go back to the school and/or college/university. Now of course the children and teenagers are very happy about that. They anticipate with great hope the dawn of the day when they once more are to face their teachers. Of course the students have different ways of dealing with these traumatic events that follow in that very same week. Some dream of doing something entirely different then sitting in the class-room while doing just that. Others again try to escape with the aid of sickness and poor health then of course some others simply endure the ordeal knowing that it will be over eventually. The parents celebrate that the children are finally away for more time of the day and thus allowing them to recover from the stress off the holiday past. The teacher are in general without opinion on the issue for one yes, the time in school justifies their health plan and their pay but on the other hand they can no longer relax as the have done over the holiday. Of course there is the little problem of having to face children and teenagers which are most often by grade six or so mainstreamed sufficiently to accept the status of the teacher as god, or rather as infallible tyrant. But why is such a system necessary? Well thanks to the human intellect and the ability to think very differently then any other life-form on the planet we managed to create an artificial world or environment which makes it necessary to teach the children to some degree of course 10-20 years might be considered a little long but then again. This will limit the rate with which new worker can come onto the market allowing the old ones to develop new and amazing sicknesses and disabilities which prohibit them from working or they might simply die. Now of course that can not be the entire reason for such an elaborate system, and of course it is not, the system also allows to mainstream the main part of the population which is a very useful feature further it keeps the little rascals occupied from doing anything they should not do...like thinking or having fun.

What has changed?

I have not written for nearly a month, but what has changed in that time?
Christmas is past and the New Year rushed in to fill the void the last year had left. Politically the situation seems to escalete further and further since the I wrote the last time, the British government is still investigating the death of the Spy, who supposedly was killed by the Russian government. The US Government reforms the military leadership in Iraq but still intends to stay. In Germany the population and government try to fight the Gas prizing used by certain Gas suppliers which again has been a problem for quite some time. Now the costumers have begun to cut the prizes for the Gas supplier since this seems to be the only solution. The US also warned North Korea that further tests would lead to a response of the US and allied nations. The US leadership staff is still being replaced in the hope that that will solve the problems the administration has been mounting up over the last years.

There good news though, for example we have found a black hole in the Globular Cluster. Many astronomers had doubted that a black hole could exist in such a place.

On the other hand if a Black Hole becomes the good news something must be wrong with the world and/or the current state of affairs. Since the Black hole even though that we are un-affected is still a very very destructive force.
